The Concept
The Kent County Agricultural Society have been in consultation with Maidstone Borough Council, Kent County Council, SEEDA, Kent Downs AONB and other agencies to produce a project that will secure Kent rural heritage and bring the Showground into the 21st century.
The current aims of the Society are to produce a state of the art multi purpose showground, a conference centre with integrated exhibition arena and demonstration capacity. The Society would also like to develop an educationand research facility in conjunction with Hadlow College, which would coverveterinary science and related industries, a centre of excellence for equine with a possibility of an involvement in the 2012 Olympic Games. KCAS will also seek to promote green values which would be consistent with the best in AONB Strategies.
Perhaps one of the most interesting projects would be to develop a farming heritage centre and rural library, this would be accompanied by a veterinary centre designed to cater for blood stock at the highest equestrian level.
The Kent Show will continue to be the main focus of the society’s attention and the redevelopment of the site will go a long way to enhance and improve what we have to offer at the show.
